Tile Variation Standards
Why it matters
Tile variation refers to the inherent, batch-to-batch and tile-to-tile differences in colour tone, pattern, texture, and surface finish that occur through the manufacturing process. These variations are expected and should be assessed under consistent lighting conditions prior to installation. When installed, the resulting tonal and pattern range contributes to the overall visual depth and material character of the finished surface.

V1
Differences among pieces from the same production run are minimal.

V2
Clearly distinguishable differences in texture and/or pattern within similar colours.

V3
While the colours and/or texture present on a single piece of tile will be indicative of the colours and/or texture to be expected on the other tiles, the number of colours and/or textures on each piece may vary significantly. It is recommended that the range be viewed before selection.

V4
Random colour and/or texture differences from tile to tile, so that one tile may have totally different colours and/or textures from those on other tiles. Thus, the final installation will be unique. It is recommended that the range be viewed before selection.
